This week I met with my classmate Daniel Schmitz. He is a super senior studying molecular and cellular biology. He’ll be graduating this spring and is going to apply to the Stemcell Biotechnology Certificate Program. He’s currently gaining experience in scientific research by working in Dr. Pace’s lab at Cal State Long Beach. In his free time, he likes to play guitar and board games. He also has a couple dogs and a couple chickens (kind of unusual for someone in southern California). I asked him the QOTW “what do you think college will be like in 2036?” His answer was that he thinks colleges will move away from sitting in a classroom and become more web-based with all the advances in technology we’re having. However, he thinks that overall it won’t change much because the college learning environment is somewhat a long-standing tradition. I agree with Daniel for the most part, but I think technology is going to become increasingly pervasive in college. Here’s a picture of me and this goofy guy!
